George Falcon is the proprietor of Computer Mercenaries, Inc., which serves Montgomery County, Maryland with local area network services using the major network operating systems and various distributions of Linux. Linux is more reliable and stable, supported by thousands of users throughout the world, and is perfect for small and medium-sized businesses interested in saving money. If you're interested in having me stop by your place of business for a consultation, there are a number of ways in which you can reach me... email me at gfalcon at compmerc dot com or george_falcon at hotmail dot com, call me at 301 922 8939, reach me through ICQ 1546005, Windows Messenger through george_falcon at hotmail dot com. Since I run my business from my home, and am out of the house fairly often playing with computers, I don't like to advertise my home address, and I don't receive customers here. I accomplish the business goals of my customers through my own efforts and through the use of the services of other computer people I've met over the 22 years I've been in the business.

We're located about five blocks Northwest of the county government center in Rockville. This part of the county seat (known as the historic "West End") has a nice feel to it... convenient, quiet, and modern, with old trees and some very old houses. Squirrels, rabbits, deer, opposum, chipmunks, ducks, hawks, sparrows, crows, and cardinals love this neighborhood. Beall Dawson house, a few blocks away, was built in 1815. Our home is near the Southwest corner of Welsh Park, which has a swimming center with five swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor; tennis courts, softball fields, and a soccer field. The new skateboard park is state of the art.

Just North of Welsh Park is the main campus of Montgomery County Community College.

Montgomery County is the third wealthiest county in the D.C. area (behind Fairfax County, VA. and Howard County, Maryland.  According to the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, the median household income for Montgomery County in 2005 was $87,500, Maryland's was $61,592 overall, which was 33% above the national median. County services of all types are great. We even have our own buses, which supplement those provided by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA). Our buses run on clean natural gas. We are an easy 15 minute walk to the Rockville transportation center, which supports Amtrak, MARC, and metro trains, and WMATA and Montgomery County Ride-On buses.

Since 1984, I’ve maintained memberships (off and on) in both Mensa and Intertel.  Mensa’s fairly well-known, and requires for membership demonstration of an IQ in the top 2% of the world population.  Some well-known Mensans include Parade columnist and author Marilyn Vos Savant, science fiction author Isaac Asimov, and actress Geena Davis.  Intertel is smaller, and less well-known, and requires demonstration of an IQ in the top 1%.  I have links here to the Mensa International, American Mensa, Ltd., and Metropolitan Washington Mensa websites.  The link to the Intertel website is here.

I have been riding motorcycles since 1975. My last four motorcycles have been BMWs, so I have become active in the BMW motorcycle riding community, particularly over the past 20 years. The last three BMWs I've owned have been the luxury touring model K1200LT. I've bought all three from Bob's BMW in Jessup, Maryland.  I've been a member of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America (BMWMOA) off and on since 1989. This is the largest motorcycle club not sponsored by a motorcycle manufacturer.

I've been a member of our local BMW motorcycle club (the BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington, or BMWBMW, for about six years. I've served briefly as Internet chair, Membership chair, and I have, since August, served as chairman of the newsletter committee. In August, I declared my candidacy for the office of president of the club. Election ballots must be mailed to the elections and nomination committee, and must be postmarked by midnight October 31st.   The club's monthly newsletter, "Between The Spokes", is available here in .pdf format for the months of October and November.

In 2005, I joined the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), an organization that represents the interests of all motorcyclists.

This year I joined the BMW Riders Association (BMWRA). A number of members of BMWBMW serve in important capacities in BMWRA.  Their monthly newsletter, “On The Level”, has razor-sharp photographs, and excellent equipment reviews and other articles.

I participate in three online mailing lists for motorcyclists that offer valuable tips for new riders and riding veterans alike... the Long Distance Riders (LDRider), the Internet BMW Riders (IBMWR), and the K1200LT forum.
